well i'm left sitting round looking back at my life
wondering how it all got from there to here
there was some good times and some bad times
but i all always seemed to make it through to another day
I can't say it was living life to it's fullest
but I wasn't necessarily content to leave it lay
so I kept on the move looking for that certain groove
living life and breaking hearts playing in life's cruel games
but still never finding that special place to stay
then one day she walked right into my light
we laughed and through the night we had the best of times
but then one day she met a man that coaxed her to stray
now i'm all alone left with this broken heart untamed
constantly wandering in the memories of my mind
so I took off on the road and left that one horse town
traveling from here to there trying to lose my memory of you
but no matter how far i went i could never shake those blues
sitting in the cold cold rain i know now my life won't be the same
never getting to see my kids cuz the hate that fills the air
will they live their lives never knowing the man i am
hell i don't so how can i hope they could if they can

this country couldn't give a crap about the life time plan
what it was built upon, what really has broke it's back.
where's our future gonna go when we lose all our past.
then we shame all the dads and drive them into the dust
pretend that they're all bad, in their names there is no more trust
so they're left sitting round looking back at their lives
wondering when and if their kids will ever learn they mean no harm
but there's no hope and they know they have to make it thru one more day.
so sitting all alone looking back at their past wondering how it got to here
this isn't what they dreamed, love and family lost beyond belief.

no where for him to go, no way for him to know.
all their laughs and memories he will never see
purposely kept away, hoping one day for a chance to see..
worked to the bone till his home and health is gone.
