The Same Old Thing

All i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
the same old thing
the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing

When i look into your eyes
there's no passion still living there
there's no pressing back
when we touch our lips
just a vast emptiness

It's the same old thing
it's the same old thing

And when lie to start our day
believe me when i say
it hurts me to see you when you're sad
you don't even take it out on me when your mad

It's the same old thing
it's the same old thing

So who's this other guy on the phone
why does he bring a smile upon your face
what is he telling you that you're so ready to believe
and why can't you just tell me the truth

It's the same old thing
it's the same old thing

All i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
the same old thing
the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing

It's the same old thing
it's the same old thing
it's the same old thing
it's the same old thing

There's no time to set it right
there's no turning back now
there's no memories lingering on
there's just me and the void

You used to look at me like that
you couldn't wait for us to be alone
our love was like a tidal wave
then it came crashing down

It's the same old thing
it's the same old thing
the same old thing
the same old thing

All i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
the same old thing
the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing
all i get is the same old thing

It's the same old thing
it's the same old thing

Did i see you looking back

It's the same old thing
it's the same old thing

Who's that knocking on the door

It's the same old thing
it's the same old thing

Who's that making love

It's the same old thing
it's the same old thing

It's the same old thing
it's the same old thing

Something Wooden

I stepped into an avalanche
it covered up my soul.
And even as i take the last breath of air
i still do not feel my despair.
I used to know what love is,
even if it's always left me cold.
I used to know what love is,
even if it's damned me to my death.
The feel of the weight of sand and stone,
while something wooden drives it home.
The darkness turning into a bright light,
calling me with a familiar voice that i know.
I tried to listen to your prayers,
i tried to give you what you wanted so.
But it was all beyond my means,
i didn't know how to make it known.
I'm just a humbled man,
with no place to go.
The devil took me under his wing,
promising me wealth and gold.
Then he cast me aside saying he told me so.
Oh i stepped into an avalanche,
it covered up my soul.
And even as i take the last breath of air,
i still do not feel my own despair.
I used to know what love is,
ya even if it's always left me cold.
I used to know what love is,
even if it's damned me to my death.
Now there's only the weight of sand and stone,
while something wooden drives it home.

While something wooden drives it home.
while something wooden drives it home.
while something wooden...drives it home.

Hit and Run

Move it along, move it along
there's nothing to see here
it's just another hit and run

Hit and run, hit and run
just another...hit and run
hit and run, hit and run

It's just another hit and run
there's nothing to see here

We build and we build our lives
making our dreams for the future
just to get it wiped away in an instant

One day is filled with their laughter
the next it's drowned out with their silence
you just want to turn back the hands of time

Move it along, move it along
there's nothing to see here
it's just another hit and run

Hit and run, hit and run
just another...hit and run
hit and run, hit and run

It's just another hit and run
there's nothing to see here

Every night their faces haunt you
every day you just want to hide away
every one wants to be your friend
but there's nothing they can do

When something so precious is lost
there's not enough that can pay to get it back
once it's gone... it's gone forever

Move it along, move it along
there's nothing to see here
it's just another hit and run

Hit and run, hit and run
just another...hit and run
hit and run, hit and run

It's just another hit and run
there's nothing to see here

And the days slip away
the nights get more tolerable
and even though you don't want it to
their faces start to slowly fade away

Cold sweat and frustrations
hot flashes filled with hate
endless nights with no harmony
nightmared sleep filled with grief

Move it along, move it along
there's nothing to see here
it's just another hit and run

Hit and run, hit and run
just another...hit and run
hit and run, hit and run

It's just another hit and run
there's nothing to see here

What Good Are Walls

What good are walls
when people can just run through them
how are they supposed to protect you
from the cold and the rain
what good are walls
when they're so paper thin
everyone can hear you
everyone can listen in
what good are walls
you know they can be tall
you know they can be small
you know they can be wide
or they can be small and still trip you
they'll make you fall to the ground
then you're lying there wishing
look to the sky what do you see
no more walls
it could be dark
then you'll see the stars
maybe the moon will bless you
starry nights the warm wind blows
brings you back to your life
feel the breeze on your face
feel yourself fly in the wind
why don't you let Mother Nature in
she won't cost you anything
Father Time now he's a man
that stops on a dime
he has a hand that can twist my fate
but he's not one to intervene
so i'm on my own
trying to make heads or tails
from guessing on a two headed coin
something tells me it's all stack against me
even fifty fifty doesn't let me prevail
what good are walls
when people can run right through them
what good are walls
just how are they supposed to protect you
from the cold and the rain
what good are walls
when they're so paper thin
what good are walls
when everyone can hear you
what good are walls
when everyone can listen in
what good are walls
ya they can be tall
what good are walls
ya they can be small
what good are walls
you know they can be wide
what good are walls
they can be short and still trip you
make you fall to the ground
what good are walls
what good are walls
hey what good are walls
what good are walls
what good are walls
when they can fall on you

This Ain't No Life

I don't know my future
so i don't have no hope
waiting for my life to begin again
leaves me standing on a slippery slope
if i try to go back i can't make the grade
its too steep from all my tears they're like the rain
i fell in a hole and i feel like there's no way out
and the more i fight the deeper i get
no more dreams i'm better off dead
my soul stained by my deeds it wants to leave
i reached out to you but you turned away
telling me you're using all your tough love
but what did i do to earn it in the first place
the sun is so bright it burns my face
too many days seeking out only the darkness
my shame apparently lingering all over me
what do you want with me
why can't you leave me alone
can't you see I've thrown myself away
cast aside my name it's just a word defamed
my teeth all worn down from the shame
from me yelling at God
"Why me, hey man this ain't no life"
ya from me yelling at God
"Why me, hey man this ain't no life"
there's no use waiting for one that won't listen
they turned away so long ago so i won't miss them
the don't even recognize me when they pass me
but it was so different back when they needed me
guess i was fooled good because i believed them
it just felt good that someone needed me
keep them from sinking, keep them from drowning
give them a hand when they had their doubts
show them compassion show them some love
show them compassion show them some love
show them compassion show them some love
oh help me please, pick me up
oh help me please, pick me up
no one here will show me love
i got to get up, i got to move on
got to get out and get in the sun
got to move on, i'm on the run
can't let them use their tough love
got to get away, got to find a way
to reclaim my name so i can be me
got to stand up, got to stand tall
got to be brave, before my last fall
time has been fleet time has flown by
is it too late for me to find my wings
will he still take me in, forgive my sin
maybe he won't listen, maybe he's mad
maybe he's tired, maybe he's sad
it's so hard to tell
when he's sending me his tough love
so what will i do, i feel the darkness calling
there's not too many options
i can lean to to the left or i can lean to the right
in either case my path ends up in a fight
from me yelling at God
"Why me, hey man this ain't no life"
ya from me yelling at God
"Why me, hey man this ain't no life"
this ain't no life, this ain't no life
this ain't no life, this ain't no life
you know, this ain't no life
this ain't no life, this ain't no life
this ain't no life, this ain't no life
this ain't no life, this ain't no life
this ain't no life
