Waiting on the Truth

The ground is turning red below me
soaking up my life as i know it
when it's done nothing will be left of me

Where will i go, whats to become of me
just a husk of a shell laying waiting
to become part of what i last surveyed

My eyes have grown so cold
you don't want to see what I've seen
it wasn't supposed to be that way

You know i used to have my hope
i used to believe in everything
no one could keep me down

Now the darkness has swallowed me whole
it was always lurking behind me
waiting for me to slip up and lose control

Please God save my soul
i don't want to go to the underworld

You know it wasn't me i swear
they all drove me insane

The devil didn't make do it
you know he's not to blame
so let's just leave him out of this

I'm waiting on you Lord
waiting for you to see the truth

I was never a bad man
until they forced me to do it

I always believed in love
that someone was out there for me

And when i found them
they all turned their backs away
cut me to the bone

they drained my life away
and this all that's left of me

What you see is my sum
my final achievement
waiting for the goodness
that was promised to me

So please God save my soul
i don't want to go to the underworld
