Maybe this wasn’t meant to be

All these years putting up with me

All our friends claimed you were the glue

That held us together thinking our love was true

But they never sat thru the thickness of our nights

Always sitting in our rooms alone...waiting for the light

We used to dance and make love until we saw the sun

Then there came the day we lost our faith

The news came in the form of flashing lights

We just fell apart we lost the bond between our hearts

Our two hearts were always stronger than one

But they couldn’t take the pain when we lost our only son

In a flash the future's gone with the winter's wind

The sands of time tricking us with another's sin

The days wore on and on until they turned into night

There was no way to go back from that awful night

And how do you learn to live with yourself again

When you feel that god took away your only light

Well it’s been so many months since you could look me in the eye

We can’t let the emptiness consume our precious love

Even though we had nothing to do with this turn in our lives
