The Darkness Won't Let in the Light

The saddest feeling that I've ever had
it's the deepest thing that's stuck in my crawl
it's the darkest secret within me and there it dwells
it's what bubbles up from way below
just...just when i'm feeling good

You see...all of my life
happiness has just been a myth
sure there's been those fleeting minutes
a glimmer of hope shinning between the clouds

But i think it's always been my destiny
somehow i'm the one picked out to suffer indignity
the one to take in every one and all their sin
but i didn't chose this side of this

The darkness won't let in the light
keeps smothering me with it kindness
somehow i can take on the comfort

Best to not know anything different
best not to know what love is
best to to keep my head down low
best to try and forget it all

I had a dream of magic butterflies
they would cover me and lift me to the sky
they would take to a land so far away
where people laughed and never cried

She said she would never leave
she said we would be together forever
but then one day i caught her in a lie
she just stood there laughing
while deep down inside i died
