How do I write a song?
Where the words have new meaning
That hasn’t already been used before
How am I gonna tell you
About these feelings I have for you
No sense in stealing any prose
Wondering where this world leads
Its definition lost in dissolution
Words sometimes have no creed
Dissipation in remorse surely wins the day
You and I have been friends for an eternity
Shall I take chance and hold your hand
Sing to you a chorus from someone else's misery
All their hopes and their dreams...
Maybe it's the way they sing
Will this help to show you what I mean?
The hand that writes the tune
Talking about the month of June
Soaking up the summer days
And starry nights under the moon with you
When the moonlight shines just right
Makes me want to hold you tight
Kiss me before the night is through
How am I gonna tell you
About these feelings I have for you
No sense in stealing any prose
Wondering where this world will lead
Its definition lost in dissolution you see
Words sometimes surely have no creed
So how do write a song
Where the words have new meaning
Haven't they all already been used before?
Dissipation in remorse surely wins the day
You and I have been friends for an eternity
Shall I take a chance and hold your hand
Sing to you a chorus from someone else's misery
All their hopes and their dreams...
Maybe it's the way they sing
Will this help to show you what I mean?
The hand that writes the tune
Talking about the month of June
Soaking up the summer days
And starry nights under the moon with you
When the moonlight shines just right
Makes me want to hold you tight
Kiss me before the night is through
